Apparently Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross and T-Pain are a bit more consistent than the Bobcats because all they do is win.
More than two-thirds of the way through the regular season, Ohio (5-5-3, 2-2-2 Mid-American Conference) has yet to win back-to-back matches but has stayed afloat thanks to its resiliency following losses.
The Bobcats have not gone more than three games without a win this season. Their longest winless streak comprised a tie against Eastern Michigan sandwiched between losses to Central Michigan and Toledo to open MAC play. Coach Stacy Strauss said consistency has been a little bit lacking but added that correcting this deficiency does not require drastic changes to her game plan.
We're capable of beating anyone when we play at our best
she said. Our real emphasis the whole year has been getting the best play from our players and then showcasing it for 90 minutes and then doing it again the next game.
Ohio visits rival Miami and Bowling Green this weekend in what may prove to be the Bobcats' two most difficult matches left on the schedule. If the Bobcats put away two wins this weekend, they will claim the top spot in the MAC East with three conference games left. Their final three opponents have one conference win to their collective credit.
I think (the players) all know that the standings are on the line but there's still several other games to be played
Strauss said. It's certainly no guarantee that if we get a win that we're going to win the MAC East.
Miami's conference play has mimicked Ohio's this season. The RedHawks (10-4-1, 3-2-1 MAC) and Bobcats have faced four common opponents and have fared the same against each. The schools are 8-8 against each other all time, with Miami taking the last contest 1-0 in double overtime.
The stakes don't get much higher than they are for this game
Strauss said. It is a big rival
so that comes with a lot of passion and energy and there's certainly some emotion
so we want to be sure that we keep that in check.
The Falcons (4-9-2, 2-3-1 MAC) have allowed multiple goals to low-scoring teams. They dropped a 6-4 contest to Eastern Michigan and tied Ball State 3-3 earlier this month. Strauss said her squad will have to manage its personnel Friday to come up with a strong performance Sunday.
I think throughout the season we've proven to be one of the fittest teams in the conference
she said. We've done pretty well on Sundays because of that.
