Athens County's Auditor Jill Thompson and Court of Common Pleas Judge Michael Ward both will continue serving the county after running uncontested in last night's election.
Thompson, who has served as auditor since 2000, received 100 percent of the about 12,000 votes cast in yesterday's election.
Thompson will continue to update the technology in the auditor's office, she said, adding that outreach and communication with county citizens is critical.
One of Thompson's goals is to remain engaged with county residents.
I'll remain accessible and active and work hard to make Athens a better place
she said. (I will) run the best office that I can.
Thompson plans to work with other elected officials to keep the county financially healthy, she said.
Thompson will begin her fourth term as the county's auditor in March 2011.
(Being auditor) is a great job Thompson said. I take it very seriously.
Athens County Court of Common Pleas Judge Michael Ward also will remain in office after receiving 100 percent of the about 12,000 votes cast.
Ward has served as judge since 1992, he said, adding that he was happy that he had no opposition in this year's race.
My plans are to continue to operate the court as we have in the past years Ward said.
