Democratic incumbent Debbie Phillips will continue to serve as representative for the 92nd District of the Ohio House after beating two challengers in last night's election.
Phillips will serve another two-year term in the Ohio House after winning about 52 percent of the votes throughout the district in last night's race.
She beat Republican challenger Mike Hunter, who received about 45 percent of the votes throughout the district, and Green Party challenger Ty Collinsworth, who received about 3 percent of the district's votes.
The 92nd District encompasses Athens, Meigs, Morgan, and Washington counties.
Phillips received about 18,000 votes, while Hunter received about 15,600, and Collinsworth came in a distant third with about 850 votes.
In Athens County, Phillips dominated the polls with about 64 percent or about 10,400 votes. Hunter received about 34 percent or about 5,500 votes, and Collinsworth collected about 3 percent or about 460 votes.
Votes in the remaining counties favored Hunter overall.
Official results will not be available until Nov. 16.
Phillips will continue to focus on educational issues, promote advanced energy opportunities to strengthen Ohio's economy and serve as a strong advocate for the people of the 92nd District, according to her website.
I appreciate everything everyone did to help with the campaign
and I will do everything I can to do a good job representing the people in the 92nd House District Phillips said.
Phillips will focus on job creation and economic development to improve the economy of Athens County, she said, adding that she will continue to invest in support for small businesses.
Phillips also said she supports additional state funding for area schools to help students compete in the global economy.
Hunter said he was disappointed with the results, but glad the campaign was at an end.
Collinsworth could not be reached for comment.
