Ohio practiced Wednesday for the first time since its 34-17 win against Buffalo last Thursday, and quarterback Boo Jackson was on the sideline in street clothes talking to the media for the first time about his injury.
Although he said he was not allowed to address last Friday's altercation at Courtside Pizza and Bar, during which he was knocked unconscious, Jackson said he suffered a concussion and hopes to play in the Bobcats' game at Temple Tuesday.
The doctors said it was just a concussion
Jackson said. Nothing more severe than that. We're just taking it day-by-day. It felt good the next day next morning.
Jackson said he didn't suffer from headaches or other concussion-like symptoms the next day and said he passed a concussion test with flying colors. He added that he did not suffer any broken facial bones.
Jackson still is awaiting word from doctors about his status for the Temple game but said he was eager to get on the field.
I'm ready Jackson said. I feel one hundred percent
but the doctors have to take their precautions
and I don't want to rush into things or anything like that.
If Jackson can't play, quarterback Phil Bates likely will start. Bates said he is confident he could play effectively if Jackson is out.
I've been playing all year
Bates said. It's not like I'm a fresh face in the huddle. We just got to get our job done. Boo
of course he helps us out when he's out there
but I play quarterback too.
