On a dreary and day outside The Convo, the basketball inside it was not much better for the Bobcats.
From the opening tip off, Louisville started fast and Ohio could not catch up. Four players for Louisville scored in double figures to lead the Cardinals to an 84-47 win.
Becky Burke led the Cardinals with 14 points and shot 80 percent from the 3-point line.
Coach Semeka Randall said she was unhappy with the way that the defense played.
Even with the outing against Ohio Dominican we played with so much energy
passion and desire. We came up with a lot of hustle plays and loose balls Randall said. Today we allowed Louisville to come in and dictate all those things.
The Cardinals forced 22 turnovers, allowed only six Bobcat assists and held Ohio to 28-percent shooting.
Randall addressed the fans in attendance after the game.
I want to thank you guys for coming out...this is not what we hoped for
Randall said. This team is going to get better
and they need your support.
Tenishia Benson led all scorers with 16 points and added eight rebounds. Although the team came out in the second half with more fire, Benson said, she added that the approach was not any different.
Things started opening up and that just being aggressive and taking control of that and seeing it
Benson said.
Benson felt the need to step up in this game and show others players what the Big East can be like.
Because I came from Cincinnati
I know how they (Big East teams) are
Benson said. You have to hit first in order to get a good foundation for the game.
Randall said she wants other players to step up and score.
Benson has done a tremendous job doing what she needs to do
Randall said. People have to step up and help her. I believe Alesia Howard
when she gets in a groove and figures it out
she'll be fine
