The Athens County Sheriff's Narcotics Enforcement Team intercepted a shipment of heroin Thursday night on Route 33 in Nelsonville.
Deputies seized 82 balloons of heroin, more than $2,000 in cash and a vehicle, according to an email from the Sheriff's Office.
Jared Shumway, 27, of Nelsonville, was arrested on an outstanding warrant, according to the email. The shipment was to be sold in Athens, Nelsonville and Glouster, Sheriff Pat Kelly said.
Shumway was arrested and taken to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. He will be presented to a grand jury in February.
