Swimming and Diving: Double dual meets present 'challenges' for Ohio

Ohio is hitting the road this weekend for the first two meets of a four dual-meet road trip.

Challenges are ahead for the Bobcats as they compete against Duquesne and West Virginia today and tomorrow. Both teams present different sets of strengths for which Ohio will prepare.

Duquesne is one that is a more speed-oriented program

coach Greg Werner said. They're very good racers very quick off the start and the order of events that we will be contesting is much more of a sprint-oriented type.

As for West Virginia, the style change might test the other side of the distance meter for Ohio.

West Virginia is a very good program Werner said. Much more of a stroke and distance-oriented program so some of the challenges we see on Friday we may not see on Saturday and some of the challenges we see on Saturday

we may not see on Friday.

Duquesne enters today's matchup coming off a win against California (Pa) but the Dukes have struggled all season posting only a 2-12 record. West Virginia is 2-6 in the season in dual meets.

The Bobcats faced Duquesne earlier in the season in the Akron Invitational, an event in which the Bobcats placed first. Duquesne placed five spots behind Ohio in sixth amassing 257 points.

Ohio is coming off a 172.5-116.5 win against conference foe Akron, which saw the Bobcats have a first place finisher in the first 13 events. Even with two more duel-meet victories than both Duquesne and WVU combined, Werner said he doesn't want his team getting complacent.

We're going to have to be ready to go

he said. We have a very good team

a well balanced team and a deep team. We have people that excel in the speed events as well as the endurance events.
