In 2009, the apartment complex Palmer Place opened. Its close proximity to Palmer street, and its name, led to the residents throwing a street-fest style party at the complex. In 2010, the second year of partying started around noon on a Friday and lasted until around 11 at night. The fest went on without any incidents with police or rioting.
The daylight hours were consumed by drinking games and corn hole in the courtyard, a water balloon launcher and friendly conversation. After dusk, the corn hole boards and tables were moved inside while a lineup of DJs played music until the party shut down.
