I am the Commissioner of Off-Campus Life for Ohio University's Student Senate. In relation to the article and editorial about Student Senate's inactivity, I wanted to comment on the community forum. I wrote Senate Resolution 1011-9 and the goal was to foster conversations with the community and strengthen ties between off-campus students and permanent Athens residents.
Our Advisory Committee was formed last quarter and we are moving forward with such a site. It is a collaboration between university administrators and professors, students and community members. The site is now operational in the form of a Yahoo! group.
Our next meeting is March 1. Student Senate is here for the student body and I would encourage anyone with a problem or idea to stop by Baker 305 and talk with a representative.
