With a late night tweet Ohio University's Vice President of Student Affairs Kent Smith delivered what may be, for some students, the biggest news of the year.
"Student Affairs has signed a contract to bring recording artist (B.o.B.) to OU on May 20th!" Smith tweeted just before 8 p.m. tonight — an announcement that sent many of the OU students who follow him into a frenzy.
The rapper, who is also known as Bobby Ray, was nominated for three Grammy Awards this year, including record of the year.
The May show will be held in The Convo, making it the first arena show to hit Athens in at least four years.
"We'll be able to easily double the number of people that we would have in a show at (Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium)," said Ryan Lombardi, OU's dean of students.
The concert's other details have yet to be set in stone, including who will open the show. Lombardi said other well-known acts have been contacted but nothing is official yet.
"B.o.B. will be the headliner, but the plan is also have the show open with a big name," he said.
