A Logan man currently detained in the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail was found to be in possession of heroin over the weekend.
Sean Vanness, 26, was arrested on Sunday for the possession of heroin inside the jail. He was found with 158 balloons, according to court documents.
Vanness was already detained in jail for other drug possession charges. He was booked Feb. 26.
Arresting officer Sgt. Edward Kurtz did not have a comment as to how Vanness got the drugs into the jail.
The possession of heroin is a second-degree felony. It carries a maximum sentence of eight years in prison and a maximum fine of $15,000 if convicted, according to the Ohio Revised Code.
Vanness appeared in Athens County Municipal Court yesterday for the new charge. He was given a bond of $158,000, according to the documents.
Vanness is scheduled to reappear in court for a preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. on March 16.
