Athens City Law Director Pat Lang announced yesterday his plans to seek appointment as Athens County Prosecutor.
The Democrat and Ohio University graduate's decision comes just days after current county prosecutor C. David Warren announced his resignation effective May 31.
Warren cited budgetary and personal concerns as reasons for his resignation.
Due to his resignation, the Athens County Commissioner Central Committee must pick an interim prosecutor to serve until the 2012 elections.
While Warren said Assistant Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn has shown some interest in the position, Lang is the first to announce he will be seeking appointment.
“My wife, Jenny, summed it up to me best: ‘When your dream job comes open, you have to go for it,’” Lang said in an email sent last night.
