In response to Information Technology Communications Manager Sean O’Malley, quoted in Wednesday’s article about the bandwidth limits on Netflix, I have to ask, why are those limits still in place?
Not only did your bandwidth limits take away from Netflix’s usage, it also took away from other online services such as online gaming.
I’m sure I speak for anyone with Netflix, Xbox Live or Playstation Network accounts when I express my deep frustration with the quality of Ohio University’s Internet connection recently.
Many students at this university use video games and streaming movies as a means to unwind after a long day of classes or work (or both).
However, this pastime shifts rapidly from relaxing to frustrating when games become unplayable because of crippling lag, and movies take longer to buffer than they take to watch.
It’s perfectly understandable to limit bandwidth during finals week when a solid Internet connection is vital to studying, but finals week was four weeks ago.
Can we please have our Internet back now?
