Softball: Ohio loses first game against Western Michigan

The Bobcats lost the first game of their double header with the Broncos today.

Ohio (15-17, 4-4 Mid-American Conference) lost to Western Michigan (13-24, 7-4 MAC) 6-3 in their second MAC game of the weekend.

Both teams left the first inning scoreless as the Broncos left one on base after third baseman Gracie Barstad hit a double to right field.

The second inning continued to be scoreless for both teams as both had only four girls apiece make it to bat.

Things started to turn in favor of Ohio when second baseman Brooke Morgart singled to right and was brought during a wild pitch while Alexis Joseph was at bat.

The Broncos were quick for rebuttal though in the fourth inning when they scored two runs off of four hits.

Ohio continued their scoreless streak into the sixth inning, where the Broncos scored three more runs, including two runs off of a home run by Diana Patterson. Western Michigan scored one more in the sixth inning, and Ohio scored two more runs in the seventh inning to bring the final score to 6-3.

The second game is currently underway.
