An Ohio University student appeared in Athens County Municipal Court yesterday for the possession of cocaine following an arrest Sunday night.
Andrew Nally, 19, was arraigned in court yesterday for the possession of a controlled substance.
Nally, who lives in Bryan Hall, was allegedly in possession of what he told officers was cocaine outside the Sargent Hall parking garage Sunday evening, according to court documents.
He was not booked in Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail but rather was released on his own recognizance, according to court documents.
Possession of a controlled substance is a fifth-degree felony. If convicted, it carries a maximum prison sentence of one year and a maximum fine of $2,500, according to the Ohio Revised Code.
Nally is scheduled to reappear in court for a preliminary hearing April 13 at 2 p.m.
