Vehicular crash leaves 3 in Columbus hospital

A three-car collision on state Route 682 early Friday evening resulted in serious injuries to three individuals.

Jacqueline L. White, Krista A. Antle and Taylor F. Gwinn all suffered incapacitating injuries from a vehicular crash and were transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

A “Krista A. Antle” is listed in Ohio University’s directory as the assistant director of benefits in the Human Resources department. An OU spokeswoman said she could not confirm by press time whether it is the same individual.

Gwinn was flown by medical helicopter while Antle and White were driven to the hospital, said Trooper Christopher Davis of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Athens division.

At 5:20 p.m., Antle was driving a Jeep Commander north on state Route 682, about a half mile northwest from the Richland Avenue intersection. As she attempted to turn left onto North Ridge Road toward The Ridges, Davis said, Gwinn, driving a Nissan Sentra, hit Antle’s vehicle from behind.

Antle was knocked into the opposing southbound lane and collided with White, who was driving a Dodge Durango, Davis said. Gwinn then hit White as well, he added.

“At this time, we don’t consider it fatal, but it’s obviously a serious-injury crash,” he said.

Members of the highway patrol, Athens Police Department, Ohio University Police Department, Athens Fire Department and emergency medical services were on scene. The road was closed to traffic for about two hours.
