Women's Golf: Final round of Falcon Invitational cancelled, Bobcats place seventh

The severe winds in the hills of Bowling Green blew away the Bobcats’ chances of a comeback bid.

Sunday’s final round action of the Falcon Invitational was cancelled due to severe winds that were a constant 25-30 miles per hour, with some gusts blowing even stronger. Several golfers had finished their rounds and all participants had finished at least nine holes.

With Sunday’s final round cancellation, results from the tournament will revert to Saturday’s first round action only, gives Ohio a seventh place finish in the event.

The Bobcats shot a team effort 51-over 339.

Even with a seventh place finish, a pair of Bobcats had impressive finishes including a top five finish for senior Jordan Fesh and an 11th place finish by Erin Cahill.

Mid-American Conference member Western Michigan left the Falcon Invitational victorious shooting a 28-over 316. The Broncos’ Britney Hamilton also took home the individual title with a 2-over 74.

The Falcon Invitational was the last event the Bobcats will participate in before the MAC Tournament. With four MAC teams participating in Bowling Green over the weekend, the Bobcats saw a little of what’s to come next weekend.

Starting Friday, Ohio will participate in the tournament in Nashport, Ohio. The Bobcats finished tied for fourth in the MAC Fall Preview and seventh in the MAC Tournament last spring, both of which were played at Longaberger.

All seven Bobcats made the trip to Bowling Green over the weekend and all finished for score in the event.
