Arrest warrant out for West Virginia man following reported rape

A 13-year-old Coolville girl reported that a 33-year-old male sexually assaulted her last night in Hockingport, Ohio.

An arrest warrant was issued for Jimmy P. Haddox, a homeless man from West Virginia, according to a news release from Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly.

While visiting a residence on Jet Star Drive in Hockingport, Haddox reportedly raped the 13-year-old victim and fled to West Virginia, according to the release.

Haddox’s last known residence was in Vienna, West Virginia.

The victim was treated at Marietta Memorial Hospital before being transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. After receiving further treatment, she was released and is currently in the care of her grandparents, according to the release.

“She’s fine,” said Detective Jack Taylor, adding that the sheriff’s office is continuing the investigation by collecting physical evidence and pursuing Haddox.

Although the release indicated that Athens County Children Services is continuing the investigation with the Sherriff’s Office, Andrea Reik, executive director of the agency, declined to comment on the agency’s involvement.
