Athens man charged in auto attack

An Athens man was charged with felonious assault after allegedly hitting another man with his car Thursday.

Alfred O. Cossin, 46, was arraigned on one count of felonious assault in Athens County Municipal Court Friday.

Cossin, a resident of 19 E. Carpenter St., allegedly struck Craig Moultry with his car in the yard of an Albany house. The two men had an altercation inside the house before the incident. Moultry was seriously injured and air lifted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, according to court documents.

Cossin is currently being held on $20,000 bond at Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

Felonious assault is a second-degree felony. Cossin could spend up to eight years in prison and pay up to $15,000 if convicted, according to the Ohio Revised Code.

He is due back in court for a preliminary hearing May 13 at 2 p.m.

Cossin had another pending case of assault and disorderly conduct from March. He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
