Drug ring bust lands 10 in jail

A pill distribution pipeline was shut down Tuesday after seven people associated with the drug ring were arrested — bringing the arrest total to 10.

The Athens County Sheriff’s Narcotics Enforcement Team worked with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Florida State Attorney General’s Office to shut down a pipeline of pill distribution in Athens County, according to a news release from Sheriff Pat Kelly.

Although 10 people have been arrested since May 10, seven were arrested on Tuesday.

James Geer II, 25; Laura Perrin, 30; and Joshua Little, 19 were all charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs, according to the release.

Rebecca Watkins, 30, was charged with trafficking in drugs.

Jared Shumway, 27; Crystal Anderson, 25; and Misty Nix, 27, were all charged with possession of heroin and trafficking in heroin, according to the release.

All seven individuals were booked at Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

Renee Morgan, 25, of Athens, was charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs, according to the release. She was booked in Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail May 10.

Christiena Spafford, 33, was charged with trafficking in drugs, according to the release. She was booked at the jail May 18.

Charles Nix, II, 26, was charged with trafficking in heroin, according to the release.

Kelly was not available to comment on the arrests.
