Ohio University’s home page touts that it’s the home of “Global Perspectives,” hosting students from all around the world. It’s this kind of diversity that is celebrated during the annual International Week.
“We try to build this week so there’s something for everyone,” Amanda Yusko, adviser for International Student and Faulty Services and one of the week’s event coordinators, said.
Yusko added that events are planned to appeal to people of diverse interest, with events geared around sports, art, music and food.
Keynote speaker Arun Gandhi will also be featured.
This year’s theme is “Building a Legacy Piece by Peace.” Yusko said the theme felt appropriate with the opening of the new Walter International Education Center and securing Gandhi, who is Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson, as a speaker.
The week was started more than 30 years ago and has increased in events and popularity throughout its existence.
