Kelly wins third term as Graduate Student Senate president

The PROUD party won all but one seat in Graduate Student Senate next year.

With 42 more votes, Tracy Kelly beat out hOUr party candidate John Calhoun for the presidency. This will be the third presidential term for Kelly, who won 204 votes. Calhoun earned 162 votes.

PROUD party's Molly Yanity, Jeffery Barbee and Isaac Abram also won vice president for communications, vice president for finance and administration and vice president for committees and legislative affairs, respectively.

Steven Foy, an hOUr party candidate who received 38 votes, will serve as the Patton College of Education and Human Services senator next year. He beat his opponent Dane Johnston by 10 votes.

A total of 378 graduate students voted during the two-day voting period. Only 170 students voted in last year's election.

This year's election was the first contested Graduate Student Senate race since 2004.
