New money management website attracts students through limo promotion

Some OU students received surprise limousine rides and snacks yesterday on the way to class through a promotion for a new site, Payoff.com.

The event, called “The Dream Tour,” picked up random students between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and drove them to class, informing them about the site along the way while supplying food and drinks.

Payoff.com is a money management website geared towards college students, said Zach Sebo, a student representative on campus.

“The whole purpose (of Payoff.com) is to help college students manage their money a lot better,” Sebo said.

All banking accounts can be linked through the site making it easier to save for various things such as spring break trips, cars or a TV, he said.

Students can also receive “badges” through the site when they achieve set personal goals or manage money well. Some badges also include cash surprises that transfer the amount directly into the user’s account.

“It makes it more interactive,” Sebo said.

The limo event was used to grab the attention of students through a unique wow factor with rides, Sebo said.

The site plans expand next year, he said.

Payoff.com is expecting its full launch in the coming months.  More information can be found at facebook.com/payoff, and students can connect their Facebook accounts to log onto the site.

“(Payoff.com is) Helping college students be a little more thrifty but pay off debt and stay off debt,” Sebo said.
