Another Ohio University dean is exiting Athens.
Scripps College of Communication Dean Greg Shepherd told faculty and staff today in an email that he has accepted a job as dean of the School of Communication at the University of Miami, Florida, effective July 1, 2011.
"My decision to leave (OU) was not easily made," Shepherd wrote in the email. "There are opportunities at Miami that are tremendously attractive to me, but I have great feeling for our Scripps College and, especially, for so many of you."
Shepherd is the fourth OU dean to announce his resignation in the last month.
The announcement that Shepherd is leaving comes just weeks after Ben Ogles, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, accepted a position at Brigham Young University. It comes just one week after Graduate College dean Rathindra Bose and Regional Campuses dean Dan Evans announced they were both leaving.
Bose accepted a position at the University of Houston while Evans announced he was retiring.
Shepherd is the 12th top OU administrator to leave Athens since 2004.
