Dear President McDavis,
I have a dear friend, who, after being approved for graduation — both by an adviser and graduation check by the School of Fine Arts — had her graduation status revoked because of a missing class. Where is the fault?
If the fault lies with the student, how? She was approved. Does the fault lie with the supervising faculty? Maybe. But the same supervising faculty also advised, “Well, you will have to write a letter to McDavis to make an appeal for graduation.”
So I write this letter to approve her for graduation. There are exceptions; she is an exceptional student.
The DARS system is an outdated one and cumbersome to understand, and the administration is at fault for failing her.
You can’t allow a student to pass a graduation check and then, three weeks prior to graduation, revoke her status because of human error.
