Two men reported to Athens Police officers they were assaulted early this morning at the intersection of South Court Street and West Union Street.
When police arrived on scene, the two men told police they were assaulted at about 2:30 a.m. this morning by 5-feet-8-inch black men, according to an Athens Police report.
Both victims had visible injuries to their faces. One was transported to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital, according to the report.
The victims said the suspects took off toward Jeff Hill before officers arrived. Both Athens Police and Ohio University Police officers searched the scene but could not find the suspects, according to the report.
The case is still under investigation.
