Jimmy P. Haddox

West Virginia man arrested for rape

After a warrant was issued for Jimmy P. Haddox’s arrest last week for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl, police arrested Haddox early Friday morning in West Virginia.

Vienna Police arrested Haddox, a homeless man from West Virginia, at 12:06 a.m. Friday after receiving an anonymous tip that he was located at 41st Street in Vienna. Haddox was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from a different county, said Vienna Chief of Police George Young.

Haddox’s last known residence was in Vienna.

A warrant was issued for his arrest in Athens County yesterday after he allegedly raped a 13-year-old Coolville girl on Wednesday. Haddox was visiting a resident of Jet Star Drive in Hockingport when the incident occurred. He then fled to West Virginia.

Haddox is charged with rape and his bond is set at $1,000,000.

He is currently in North Central Regional Jail in West Virginia and will be transferred to Athens after his eradication hearings, Young said.

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office and Athens County Children Services were investigating the case.

Rape is a first-degree felony. Haddox could spend a maximum of 10 years in prison and pay a maximum fine of $20,000 if convicted at a trial, according to the Ohio Revised Code.
