Matthew Wallace

FACE appealing disqualification

After the Board of Elections decided to disqualify the entire FACE ticket from Student Senate elections for campaign finance violations, presidential candidate Matthew Wallace has chosen to appeal the decision.

In an email to Jesse Neader this afternoon, Wallace said he met with Board of Elections Chairman Chauncey Jackson before the board made its decision. Jackson told Wallace he would not pursue punishment if Wallace admitted his ticket’s violations in writing, the email states.

Wallace maintains that the disqualification of the party is unfair to the two now-disqualified FACE candidates who won seats.

Dean of Students Ryan Lombardi responded via email, stating that Jackson only votes on board decisions in the event of a tie and therefore rarely directly controls the board’s actions.

FACE has appealed previous board decisions but has not had any overturned.
