North Carolina man arrested in Nelsonville, charged with drug trafficking

A High Point, N.C. resident was arrested in Nelsonville this weekend and charged with drug trafficking, after asking a local resident if they were interested in buying marijuana.

Christopher S. Beck, 36, was part of a caravan of new buses heading from N.C. to a Mich. auto dealership, but was stopped in Nelsonville after he, “asked a local person if they were interested in buying some marijuana,” according to a police report.

After deputies and Nelsonville police stopped three of the buses at a Speedway and Burger King, marijuana packaged for sale was located on one of the buses, along with a Vicodin tablet.

The bus driven by Beck was impounded and will be released to the dealership, according to the report.

Beck, booked at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on Friday, admitted to making the N.C. to Mich. trip frequently.

He will appear in court Monday morning.
