Ohio schools will lose nearly $780 million over the next two years under Gov. John Kasich’s new state budget, according to a recent article from the Columbus Dispatch.
The article goes on to state that 17 central Ohio school districts face reductions over 10 percent in the coming academic year.
While the cuts in Southeastern Ohio aren’t quite as severe, here is a breakdown of the state funding cuts Athens County school districts will lose over the next two years:
Athens City Schools
13.2 percent less in 2012and 6.9 percent less in 2013
Alexander Schools
6.3 percent less in 2012 and 2 percentless in 2013
Federal Hocking Schools
3.6 percent less in 2012 and 0.4 percent lessin 2013
Nelsonville-York Schools
2.1 percent less in 2012 and 0.3 percent less in 2013
Trimble Schools
6.4 percent less in 2012 and 1.8 percent less in 2013
