Students who decided to attend Ohio University mainly for its party scene received a buzz-killing blow with the release of the 2011-12 PayScale College Salary Report.
The report considers colleges already known for their party-school image and analyzes median salaries of each school’s graduates at the beginning and middle of their careers.
OU made the cut as a top-20 party school, but OU grads’ salaries did not fare well against those of the other schools. OU, the only Ohio school on the list, had the lowest median salaries of the bunch.
Graduates from the top-rated party school in regard to salaries, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, saw median salaries of $51,500 at the beginning of their careers and of $94,300 midway through their careers, according to the report.
By comparison, the median salary for OU grads starts at $41,900 and climbs to $72,200 at the mid-career point, the report states.
The report stated that although OU is included in schools that “give you great memories,” better salaries can be expected through graduation from one of the other 19 top party schools.
