Former Bobcat QB, coach fired from Texas for harassing employee

According to reports, a former Ohio quarterback and head coach was dismissed from the University of Texas football staff for sexual harassment.

Cleve Bryant, who played for the Bobcats in the 1960s, was fired from his job in March after sexually harassing a former team employee, ESPN reports. Bryant has since appealed his firing, but Texas’ athletic department has not revealed the status of the appeal.

Bryant served as Mack Brown’s associate athletics director for football operations.

During his time at Ohio, Bryant led the Bobcats to two Mid-American Conference championships and was later inducted into the Ohio University and Citrus Bowl halls of fame. The Bobcats went 10-0 during the 1968 regular season and finished in the top 20 for the first time in school history.

While Bryant was at Ohio, he was the team’s passing leader in 1968 and 1969. He holds the fifth-best record for career yardage with 4,946.

The Denver Broncos took Bryant in the 11th round of the 1970 NFL Draft, but he did not play because of knee problems.

He returned to Ohio as the head football coach in 1985 and had minimal success in five years at the program’s helm.

Bryant went 9-44-2 during his time in Athens.
