The Trimble Tomcats will have to wait another week to try and break the .500 mark.
Coach Phil Faires got word this morning that his team will not be making the trip to Coal Grove to play Dawson-Bryant tonight due to health precautions.
“All I know is that we are cancelled for tonight,” Faires said. “I got a call this morning saying that there was a meningitis outbreak in Coal Grove.”
The meningitis originated with the high school and junior high football players, Faires said.
As far as football goes, the Tomcats will point their efforts toward the weeks to come. The team will split up for the night, half departing for Corning to watch its next opponent, Miller High School (0-3), take on South Gallia. The other half will visit Eastern High School to watch the Eagles play the Waterford Wildcats (2-1), whom Trimble will face Sept. 30.
Faires also said there is no timetable as of yet regarding when his Tomcats could get their shot at Dawson-Bryant. He indicated that playing a Friday-Monday-Friday stretch of games later on this season was one option, but he would prefer a different alternative.
“That would not be my vote,” Faires said.
