In a last minute change-up and ‘Spike Style’s inability to visit Ohio
University’s Jackie O’s, Ryan Niemiller from Las Vegas stole the spotlight.
After performances by four local comedians, the audiences’ first reaction
seeing this stand-in was indeed surprise due to his obvious disadvantages in
regards to his arms. But, the comedian made this fact the main point of his show
creating laughs through out the night.
Niemiller claimed his love of comedy during the set while adding the comment
that his ‘inconvenience’ was essentially a great advantage.
His joke topics describe his own experiences, interactions, observations, how
hard it is to date, and comparing the advantages and disadvantages of his life style.
“There are actually three great reasons girls should date me,” Niemiller said.
Despite the fact that Niemiller filled the room with hilarious comments and
amusement about his attributes his material lacked in creativity. The local comedians seemed to be more inspired. Which makes me wonder- was the room bursting with true laughter or was Niemiller just playing pity from a considerate crowd?
Overall, Niemiller did get a good amount of laughs and was successful in creating audience interaction. The show itself allowed the viewers to sit down for a few hours and let the stresses of daily life fade away with each joke. The next event at Jackie O’s has yet to be announced but spectators should plan on a surprise.
