Search still on for Zanesville murder suspect

The Zanesville Police Department is still looking for a man suspected of committing Saturday's fatal drive-by shooting in the parking lot of the Dairy Mart.

Joseph C. Hampton, 21, is the prime suspect in the shooting of 21-year-old Dante A. Wolford, who was found lying in the back parking lot of the store — at 714 Pine St. — with a gunshot wound at 8 p.m. Saturday, according to a Zanesville Police news release.

Wolford was taken to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead because of his injuries.

Hampton is described as a 6-foot black man with several tattoos.

A warrant has been issued for Hampton on a charge of aggravated murder with a gun specification. Hampton’s whereabouts are still unknown.
