The Board of Regents today explored efforts to increase communication with university trustees.
The trustee-engagement review covered many topics, including four visits that the Board of Regents made to local areas last year to meet with college trustees.
During these meetings, trustees told Board of Regents representatives that they needed more communication, better education and training.
Several work groups were created after those meetings. Among them is a communication work group seeking to improve information sharing among trustees. The group developed a website that provides exclusive information to trustees.
A chancellor-effectiveness group was created as well.
“I was unaware we had these working groups,” board Chancellor Jim Petro said. “I was starting from scratch when I entered this position. It is a critical step for our state’s higher education. It was just the sort of thing I was dreaming about.”
