Golf: Bobcats compete in final tournament of fall

Both Ohio golf teams will see action this week, as they compete in their final tournaments of the fall.

The men travel to NCR Country Club today and tomorrow to partake in the Dayton Fall Invitational.

The men’s team is coming off a 12th-place finish at the Bearcat Invitational.  Ohio started the tournament with an eighth-place first-day finish, and Connor Coldwater tied for the best round of the day. But Coldwater and the team faltered as he tied for 20th and the team finished in 12th.

Coach Bob Cooley stressed the importance of getting better every week. He said trouble finding the fairways and greens contributed to the poor finish.

“Last week we had two real bad rounds and one great round, and we need to be more consistent,” he said.

Cooley said he might take a different combination of players to the tournament to find a good fit.

The women’s team travels to the Zippy Invitational at the Rosemont Country Club after finishing in eighth place at the MAC Preview.

“We’ve played this course a coupe times and I think some of the girls can score fairly well here,” coach Kelly Ovington said.

“The challenge on the course is really going to be stay steady and not let a bad hole get you down because it’s a challenging course.”
