Homecoming King and Queen reflect on crowning

Dubbed green and white royalty, seniors Harrison Hill and Faye Miller were awarded the throne Friday as Ohio University’s newest Homecoming King and Queen.

"I was surprised,” said Hill, a senior studying management information systems and marketing. “I told myself whatever happens, I would be happy. The best part was all the support I got from campus organizations, friends and individuals I didn't know."

Harrison said he thought the most important Homecoming event was the parade.

"It's an opportunity for everyone to come together." he said. "You could see how much pride everyone has in the university."

Miller, a senior studying political science pre-law and Spanish, said she was surprised to win the title of Queen.

"I absolutely could not believe it,” she said in an email. "I was completely in shock. In fact, I don't remember much between the time when my name was called and when the crowd was dispersing.”

She added that this recognition was especially timely as she prepares to finish her years at OU.

"It really encompassed my entire experience at Ohio University, and needless to say, it was an awesome way to end my time here,” she said. “I wanted this because this memory will stay with me forever. Being selected by my peers will serve as a reminder that I did make an impact on the student body while at OU.”
