OU presents career fair to connect students and potential employers

Ohio University students are setting aside their hoodies and Uggs for a day to tout their resumes and experience at a career fair.

The fair is taking place until 3 p.m. today in Baker University Center Ballroom.

More than 100 businesses sent representatives to the fair, according to OU’s Career Services website. They include Abercrombie & Fitch, American Greetings, AT&T, Frito-Lay, KeyBank, Target Corporation, Teach for America, the U.S. Peace Corps and Verizon Wireless.

This event is organized several times a year by OU’s Career Services office and brings employers hoping to recruit OU students.

“We have a lot of compliments on our students,” said Debby Lax, referral coordinator for Career Services. “They’re well-prepared.”

Students are given the opportunity bring their resumes to the fair, connect with employers and set up interviews that could lead to internships or jobs.

Students should arrive to the fair with professional clothing, copies of their resume and their student ID, according to the Career Services website.

There will be a law school fair Nov. 2, another career and internship fair Jan. 31 and a teacher recruitment consortium April 20, according to the Career Services website.
