OU receives ranking as week-long party school

At Ohio University, every day is the weekend, according to a recent survey.

The college ranking site Unigo ranked OU as one of the top 10 colleges with “never-ending weekends.” The list ranks colleges on their tendency to have students who party not just on the weekends, but all week.

A Huffington Post article credits OU’s annual Halloween block party for much of the university’s never-ending party reputation.

"Athens is filled with people the same age,” said Kat Meyo, a sophomore studying anthropology. “Everyone is trying to have a good time. It's an escape until they have to deal with the real world."

After OU’s recent first-place ranking from the Princeton Review as a top party school, some students said partying isn’t something they want to define OU.

Other never-ending weekend universities include Pennsylvania State University, the University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of Mississippi.

"With the number-one ranking, it makes the school seem like just a party school,” said Michael Rodgers, a freshman studying sport management. “It hurts us in the long run."
