After getting his start performing stand up comedy during his years at New York University, Aziz Ansari has been working steadily in the humor industry.
He created and starred in the MTV show Human Giant, he has appeared in films including I Love You Man and Funny People, and he continues to perform stand up in between his acting commitments.
Sunday night, he will bring his stand up show to Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets range from $25 to $35.
Ansari is best known for playing Tom Haverford, the lackadaisical government employee with dreams of making it in the entertainment industry, on the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation.
He also released a CD-DVD special in 2010 titled Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening.
Appreciation for Ansari’s humor has continued to grow after he first emerged on the scene; he has hosted the MTV Movie Awards and is working on developing several films of his own.
Ansari’s appearance in Athens is sponsored by the Performing Arts Series. The performance is expected to contain adult material, and as such may not be suitable for younger viewers, according to the Performing Arts Series website.
