Ping Halloween bash to offer free food, hayrides

Ohio University's Ping Center will lure students to its Halloween party tomorrow with the promise of free events and food.

Planet Ping, a 15-year-old tradition, will take place from 9 p.m. to midnight tonight. The event will offer free activities, food, and pumpkins to carve or take home.

“The biggest draw is that it’s a free event for OU students,” said Sherry Spilker, special events graduate assistant.

The free, organized events include pumpkin carving, hayrides, hypnotist shows and psychic readings. The hypnotist shows will take place at 9:15 and 10:45.

The event will also feature free food from various local businesses, including Wendy’s chili, Ponderosa Steakhouse macaroni and cheese, and Brenen’s coffee. They will also offer caramel apples, popcorn balls, apple cider, buckeyes and a chocolate fountain.

The rest of the gym will remain open for use.

“We’ll be using certain gyms, but there will still be gyms open for basketball,” Spilker said. “Basically, when you come in and go to the right, that side will be used for us.”

All OU students and Ping members will be admitted free; the event will cost $6 for everyone else.
