For those in need of wheels to the Athens Farmers Market, Graduate Student Senate President Tracy Kelly may have it covered.
GSS drafted a resolution to request the university offer transportation to the Athens Farmers Market. The Office of Sustainability surveyed students at GSS’ mini-farmers market earlier this quarter to provide a researched foundation for the resolution.
“We think it’s a really good opportunity for domesticated and international students to experience what the city has to offer,” Kelly said. “It’s a great way for students to support the local economy and its farmers. It’s healthy for students and the community.”
GSS will also encourage students to attend the public forum of the Presidential Advisory Council on Disability and Accessibility Planning that will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in Baker University Center Ballroom.
“It’s important for students to be there so we can have a better understanding for what we can do,” Kelly said.
GSS is also calling upon its Ecology and Energy Conservation Committee to work on a resolution with Bobcats for a Conflict-Free Campus.
Conflict-Free is an organization working to discourage OU from using technology made from materials that were manufactured in violent areas such as the Congo.
The resolution would give Conflict-Free a “more established framework for students to promote their concerns,” Kelly said.
