Chief audit executive announces retirement

After 13 years of independently auditing Ohio University’s administrative system to improve operations, chief audit executive Kathryn Gilmore announced her retirement this morning.

In her time at OU, Gilmore saw Internal Audit grow from one to four employees. She credited most of the growth to OU President Roderick McDavis and the importance he placed on auditing the administration to make it more efficient.

Gilmore received a degree from the OU College of Business in 1986 after studying as a non-traditional student.

“This education provided me with excellent skills that serve me daily in performing my responsibilities,” Gilmore said in a news release.

OU is hoping to fill the position promptly and will advertise the opening until Dec. 5. Officials hope to start interviewing candidates in the middle of that month. Gilmore will step down Jan. 31 of next year.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, eight to 10 years of experience with accounting or business consulting and specific knowledge of topics like higher education and advanced auditing. The candidate must be a licensed accountant, and a CPA certification is preferred.
