Jonathan W. Hickman

Suspect charged in sexual conduct case

A Chillicothe man was charged with one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor Monday at a residential center in Nelsonville.

Jonathan W. Hickman, 18, was charged with one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor after he allegedly performed oral sex on a 13-year-old boy while being held at the Hocking Valley Community Residential Center Oct. 28, according to court documents.

The center is a juvenile correction facility for young men in Nelsonville.

Hickman was booked in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail Oct. 31 but was released on his own recognizance at his arraignment hearing yesterday by Athens County Municipal Court Judge William Grimm yesterday, according to court documents.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Unlawful sexual conduct with a minor is a fourth-degree felony. Hickman could be sentenced to a maximum of 18 months in prison and a maximum fine of $5,000 if convicted, according to the Ohio Revised Code.

Hickman is due back in court Nov. 11 for a preliminary hearing.
