Two days after a Twitter account claimed an assault alleged occurred behind the Crystal on Saturday night, local authorities have no record of the crime and a manager of the bar denied any assault occurred.
On Jan. 16, the Twitter account @OUCrystal posted that an assault occurred behind the uptown bar on Jan. 16.
"Individual assaulted behind Crystal on Saturday, 1/14/12. Reports have been made, any information anyone may have is appreciated." the post said.
Levi Davis, manager at The Crystal, 34 N. Court St., said no assault occurred behind the bar on Jan. 14.
The Twitter account @OUCrystal is not associated with the bar in any way shape or form, Davis said.
"No one has ever been assaulted behind our bar," Davis said. "We have no idea who is behind the Twitter handle."
Both Athens Police and Ohio University Police were contacted on Jan. 17 and neither had a record of an assault that occurred the night of Saturday, Jan. 14.
