Baker Center director to leave for Florida university

Ohio University will wave goodbye to a Student Affairs official this winter.

Sujit Chemburkar, executive director of Baker University Center and Event Services, has accepted a position as director of the Marshall Student Center at the University of South Florida. His last day at OU will be Feb. 3.

Chemburkar came to OU in 2008 from Truman State University, where he served as director of the Student Union Building.

Chemburkar said he had enjoyed his time at OU and in the division of Student Affairs.

“I think in the division of Student Affairs, we have a very dynamic group of people really interested in serving the students,” he said.

While working at OU, Chemburkar merged University Events, Conference Services and Baker University Center administration, according to his LinkedIn profile.

OU has posted a job listing for the executive director position on higheredjobs.com.

The position includes planning and managing events in Baker University Center, Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium, Galbreath Chapel, Walter Hall Rotunda and outdoor locations, according to the job posting.

The posting will be open until it’s filled, but applicants must apply by Jan. 19 for full consideration. Interested applicants should contact Megan Vogel in the Office of University Events for more information.
