Brian Bridges, Ohio University's vice provost for diversity, access and equity, will leave OU next month.
Bridges will leave Feb. 22 to work for the United Negro College Fund, said Becky Watts, chief of staff to OU President Roderick McDavis.
Bridges is leaving OU because of family reasons, Watts said.
He will serve as the executive director of the UNCF's Frederick D. Patterson Research Institute in Fairfax, Va. In his new position, he will serve as UNCF's chief research officer, principal editor and contributor for publications and manager of projects for external consultants, according to a university news release.
Bridges has served as vice provost for diversity, access and equity since January 2009, according to a previous university news release. He makes $142,957.
The office aims to "integrate diversity initiatives into every facet of university life," according to OU's website.
Bridges graduated from Indiana University-Bloomington with a doctorate in higher education administration, according to the Institute for Higher Education Policy's website.
He served as a project consultant for the institute's Models of Success program.
Bridges manages the offices of Institutional Equity, the Women's Center, muilticultural student access and retention, Disability Services, LGBT programs and multicultural programs, according to the Institute for Higher Education Policy. He was previously the associate director of the American Council on Education's Center for Advancement of Racial and Ethnic Equity in Washington, D.C.
"Dr. Bridges has done amazing things for diversity, access and equity at Ohio University," Watts said. "He has increased awareness of diversity issues. He's been an excellent member of the team at Ohio University."
The office of Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit will conduct a search for Bridges' replacement.
