Those who look forward to an icy swim in Athens each year can now mark their calendars.
The Polar Plunge, a yearly event to raise money for the Special Olympics Ohio, will take place Feb. 11 at a new location: Lake Snowden, about 8 miles southwest of Athens.
The event invites participants to raise money and jump into an icy lake in a show of support for the Special Olympics.
Previous plunges were held at Dow Lake at Strouds Run State Park, but the location was moved this year because of an increase in plungers.
Participants are asked to collect at least $50 in pledges to participate.
Past plunges have raised close to $10,000, according to a previous Post article.
