Former OU student indicted for arson after dorm fire

 

Former Ohio University student Nathan Cencula was indicted yesterday by the Athens County Grand Jury for the fire he allegedly started in his Brough House residence.

Cencula was charged with aggravated arson on June 4, 2011 and turned himself in a day later.  The fire occurred around 2:00 a.m. on June 3, 2011 and caused an estimated $50,000 in damages to the residence hall’s common room, according to a previous

The Grand Jury indicted Cencula for aggravated arson, arson and criminal mischief, according to County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn.  Cencula is set to be arraigned two weeks from tomorrow on Feb. 1.

If convicted, Cencula faces a maximum of eight years in prison and $15,000 fine for aggravated arson, a maximum of eighteen months in prison and a $5,000 fine for arson and up to 12 months and a $2,500 fine for criminal mischief.
